4 months into my first SaaS: When is an MVP ready to launch?

👋 Hey Makers!

I'm a solo developer working on my first SaaS for the past 4 months, and I could really use some perspective from this community.

🎯 What I built: An all-in-one workspace combining project management, team docs, and communications (think streamlined Trello + Notion + Slack).

🛠 Tech stack:

  • NextJS
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind CSS
  • shadcn/ui
  • Paddle
  • Vercel
  • Supabase

📝 My journey & learnings:

  1. Started as a simple todo app, evolved into something bigger
  2. Should have used shadcn/ui from day one (cost me 20 days!)
  3. Built without validation (classic first-timer mistake)
  4. Recently learned about "vitamin vs painkiller" products - realizing I might be building a vitamin

🤔 Current situation:

  • Core features for Plus plan are complete
  • Removed free tier based on common advice
  • Advanced features planned but not built
  • No real users yet (focused too much on building)

🎯 Looking for advice:

  1. Should I launch now with just the core features?
  2. How do you know when you've built "enough"?
  3. Any tips for getting initial validation at this stage?

Would love if you could check it out: kakrola.com (Currently in test mode - you can use test card to try) There's a feedback button in bottom right!

What would you do if you were in my position? When did you know your MVP was ready?

Thanks in advance for any insights! 🙏

Would really appreciate any feedback through the feedback button in the bottom right!

MVP is Minimum Viable Product, if you have the core features then yes you should launch.

You never build enough in your own mind, but the sooner you have a viable app you should be launched and growing your customer base and evolving based on their feedback.

@joshmanders Thanks Josh! You're right - time to launch and learn.

Quick question: Before Product Hunt, I'm thinking of offering a "Founding Member" 50% lifetime discount to ~20 early users for testimonials. Good approach? Any tips on where to find these initial users?
