Work desk setup for best posture
Sitting is the new smoking. For many of us indie makers, we spend too much time sitting down. I'm starting to feel the effects of that on my back and hands. Or is that just age…

Thinking of getting an adjustable standing/sitting desk, cooling seat cushions, gamer chair, wrist pads, etc to make my posture better while working.
Any recommendations on what to look out for, what equipment to get?
Looks like you have the equipment covered however, I think it's also important to take small breaks every hour to walk a little, even do some stretch exercises and relax your eyes.
@uf4no yeah that's a difficult habit to develop for me, because when I'm in the flow I would switch off my timer when it rings. how do I not let it interrupt my flow, yet remind me to have breaks often enough?
@jasonleow yeah, that's tricky. If I'm in the middle of coding something, I just finish it or write a comment with the next steps and go for a short walk. Sometimes during the walk, I come up with better alternatives to what I was coding 🤓
Love the local chair
@fajarsiddiq you have a Secret Lab chair too? Heard the ergonomics isn't the best…is it true?
Hey, I've just launched a product which might help you keep an eye on your posture. It uses your webcam to monitor you and gives you an on screen alert when you start to slouch - the idea being to help you become more conscious of your posture when using the computer. You can download it here https://sitapp.app/, hope it helps!
Wrist pad, yes. It helps. But also consider getting a more ergonomic mouse + keyboard and make sure your chair support is the right height. Otherwise it won't help you as much.
Another cool thing to do is to switch to laptop with a trackpoint -- that way your hands will thank you when on the road or even when you just move places for a bit (like going to a sofa).
